Kenneth Ray Henry

Kenneth Ray "K.R." Henry, 89 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Kenneth Ray Henry was born on July 4, 1935 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to William and Mae (Whitcomb) Henry. K.R. grew up in the Harmon area and attended Arnett Schools from grade 1st through 10th. He graduated from Woodward High School. K.R. worked for the State of Oklahoma for many years until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Ramona Joy Rice on July 7, 2004 in Canadian, Texas. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time.

K.R. loved sitting on the front porch playing music, going to Colorado to the mountains and fishing. He made two tours playing music with Ray Price. He also played music with Lefty Frizell, Bob Wills and Asleep at the Wheel. K.R. was inducted into the National Hall of Fame of Western Swing in 1990 in Sacramento, California. He was also inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2010. K.R. just loved playing lead guitar.

He is survived by his wife Ramona Joy Rice Henry of the home; sons: Steve and Nettie Henry, Terry and Tracy Henry, Bill and Vickie Henry, Mike and Kim Henry; daughters: Kim and Chris Long, Beverle and Tim Reddin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

K.R. was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean Henry, son James Henry, stepsons, Danny Chumley and Mark Chumley, and step-daughter Debbie Chumley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roadway Church in Fort Supply with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
