Interment: 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016, Elmwood Cemetery Marilyn N Young, 93, of Woodward passed away February 26, 2016 in Oklahoma City, after a long illness. Born Marilyn Nell Gilbert, October 28, 1922 in Kiowa Kansas, Marilyn moved to Woodward with her family in childhood and made her home here most of her life. She wed James W. Young on July 12, 1942. Marilyn was prominent in many clubs, civic and church organizations during her active life. Her husband preceded her in death in 2010, as did her eldest daughter Sue Marilyn Young Hawthorne in 1981. She is survived by son Dr. James G. Young and his wife Talitha of Woodward, and son Steven R. Young and his wife Kathryn of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren include Tristan Young of Piedmont, Lauren Young and Garrett Hawthorne of Oklahoma City, and Aaron Hawthorne of Dallas, Texas. Great-grandchildren include Allyson, Michael, Mariana Hawthorne; Charlotte and Penelope Hawthorne and Kadance Young.
Billings Funeral Home will have viewing hours 8am-8pm Tuesday and 8am-11am Wednesday. Services will be Wednesday March 2, 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Woodward. Following interment at Elmwood Cemetery will be a reception at First Presbyterian Church Reception Hall for those wishing to share memories of Marilyn and Jim with their family.
