Ervin Whitehead

July 13, 1931 ~ September 22, 2019

Ervin Whitehead, 88 year old Sharon, Oklahoma resident, died Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 27, 2019 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Ervin Whitehead was born on July 13, 1931 in Bard, New Mexico; he was the son of William Harvey and Gladys (Baxter) Whitehead. Ervin was reared in Bard and Logan, New Mexico, where he attended school. His father passed away when Ervin was young, and he went to work to help his mother support his siblings. Ervin was united in marriage to Ona Lee Webster on June 9, 1950 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, they made their home in Tucumcari, New Mexico. To this union four children were born, Steve; Elaine; Scott; and Russell. Ervin enlisted in the United States Army and he served his country during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged. Shortly after returning home Ervin went to work for the then El Paso Natural Gas Company. In the summer of 1973 Ervin was transferred to Woodward, Oklahoma. He spent his entire working career with one company retiring in 1987.

Ervin always looked forward to spending time with his family, going on fishing trips, camping, and hunting. He and Ona had many memorable trips going to south Texas, and Colorado.

Ervin is survived by his wife Ona of the home; three children, Elaine Crisswell and husband Slab of Sharon; Scott Whitehead and wife Karen of Woodward; Russell Whitehead of Harrison, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Chris Whitehead and wife Cindy; Casey Whitehead; Matt Crisswell and wife Amber; Cody Crisswell; Tyler Whitehead and wife Nicole; Justin Whitehead; Pierce Whitehead and wife Khera; Jade Whitehead; and Lacee Whitehead; 15 great-grandchildren; Christopher, Andrew, Anna; Phoenix, Walker, Lane; Makayla, Monica; Kaden, Kinley, Kohen; Lyric, Deklin; Isaiah, Brecken; and Sayler; several nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Whitehead; son, Steve Ervin Whitehead; four brothers; and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cal Farleys Boys Ranch or to a childrens charity of choice with the funeral home accepting the contributions
