James (Jim) Richard Weaver

December 21, 1942 ~ April 5, 2019

Jim Weaver, 76 year old Woodward resident died Friday, April 5, 2019 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, April 11, 2019 in the First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Brad Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

James Richard Weaver was born on December 21, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas the son of Harold Ray and Dolly Viola ( Elkins) Weaver. Jim lived in Guymon, Oklahoma as a child, and attended Guymon schools graduating from Guymon High School. He was united in marriage to Lois Martin in Buffalo, Oklahoma on March 9, 1963. They made their home in Guymon. Shortly after Jim began his career in the United States Army. He served his country proudly for over 20 years as a Military Policeman and in the Tactical Telecommunications Center. Jim and Lois were blessed with one son, Jeff. After his retirement, Jim received his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He also began his second career with the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections as a corrections officer at William S. Key in Fort Supply. Jim continued his education working during the day, then driving to Edmond most evenings and earning his Masters in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Jim loved his family and God. He was a member of Woodward First Assembly of God Church. He also was active in the Christian Motorcycle Association. He loved taking trips on his bike and enjoyed the fellowship of CMA. Jim was also a member of the American Legion.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lois of the home; son, Jeff Weaver and wife Miranda of Woodward; grandchildren, Cole Weaver and Eowyn Weaver; sister, Kathryn McGuire; brother, Robert Weaver all of Guymon; several nieces; nephews; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; step-father; and four siblings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward CASA with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
