The funeral for LeRoy J. Swallow, 78, of Woodward, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Billings Funeral Home Chapel, Woodward. The Rev. Bill Tindell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Forgan to Willard “Fat” and Lilly Mae Smith Swallow and died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Woodward Regional Hospital, Wood-ward.
He graduated from Forgan High School in 1949. He married Carolyn Ann Turner Aug. 8, 1954, in Clayton, N.M. He worked in power plant construction, and they lived in several different states before moving back to the Forgan and Fort Supply area. During the Korean War, he was a member of the 7th Army Division, stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., where he trained sharpshooters.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn of the home; two sons, Dennis Swallow of Woodward and Russell Swallow of Grand Forks, N.D.; two daughters, LaNita Holloway and Rita Redfern, both of Woodward; two sisters, Norma Shafer of Keyes and JoAnn Reynolds of Joliet, Ill.; two brothers, Arthur Smith of San Antonio and Gary Smith of Rowlett, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.
