Lucille B. Lowery Stocking


June 30, 1925 ~ August 2, 2021

Lucille Stocking, 96 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 in Woodward. Private family services were held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Lucille B. Stocking was born on the family homestead west of Mutual on June 30, 1925. She was the only daughter of Elmer F. and Wilma I. (Gaston) Lowry. Lucille’s early years were spent in the Mutual area. The family later moved to Moscow Flats. She attended Hackberry Country School, moving to Mutual Schools in fifth grade and then graduating in 1943.

On September 30, 1944, Lucille was united in marriage to Leonard G. Stocking in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home together in Woodward after Leonard returned from the Navy in World War II. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Sandy and Janet.

Lucille worked in the USDA office and retired in 1985. She then spent her time loving and caring for the family, helping on the farm and raising cattle. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and other handcrafts. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Leonard G. Stocking of 64 years on July 16, 2009, and by her parents.

Lucille was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Woodward and enjoyed her church family.

Lucille leaves behind her two daughters: Sandy and husband Russell Bowen of Richardson, Texas and Janet and husband Randy Glitsch of Woodward. Lucille is also survived by five grandchildren: Kristi and husband Kyle Johnson of Woodward, Ben Bowen of Austin, Texas, Ryan Glitsch and wife Ashley of Woodward, Jon Bowen and wife Leslie of Austin, Texas, and Josh Glitsch of Woodward. Lucille is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Gracie and Harper Johnson of Woodward, Braxtyn and Kinzley Glitsch of Woodward, Jackson Glitsch of Woodward and Cooper and Cole Bowen of Austin, Texas.
