Jay Bert Stewart passed away on June 8, 2026.
Jay was born on March 14, 1951, to A.D. and Eva Stewart. He was the ninth child born into the Stewart family.
Jay enjoyed playing the lottery, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He lived life on his own terms and was known for his adventurous spirit, playful sense of humor, and the countless stories he created along the way. Whether he was exploring the mountains of California in search of gold, spending days on the river, taking family fishing trips, or pulling harmless pranks that became legendary family memories, Jay had a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable adventures. He loved the outdoors, treasured time with those he loved, and never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. Those who knew him will always remember his favorite saying, "Get out of my alley," a phrase that became uniquely his and still brings a smile to the faces of family and friends. His generosity, free spirit, and the lifetime of memories he created with family and friends will be cherished for generations.
He is survived by his brother, L.D. Stewart; his niece and housemate, JoAnn "Jug"; his special friend, Sam-girl; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other beloved family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Eva Stewart, and his siblings: Wilburn, Nort, Riley, Marcella, Bea, Bud, and Rubie.
Jay's legacy isn't found in the life he lived, but in the stories he left behind. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of countless memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
