Betty Ann Huskey Springer

springer-b-a
May 17, 1929 ~ June 11, 2024

Betty Ann (Huskey) Springer was born to Henry C. and Dovie Elizabeth (Forsyth) Huskey on May 17, 1929, in Haileyville, Oklahoma. In her words to the family members who were present, she "went Home" on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Elmwood Cemetery on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. The Huskey family lived in Haileyville, where Betty graduated high school, until 1946, when they moved to Ponca City. There Betty attended Business College; after graduating she worked for the City of Ponca City where she met her future husband, George Springer. They were united in marriage on September 2, 1949, and were married for 69 years. They were blessed with two sons, George William Springer, Jr., and Timothy Lynn Springer. Betty then chose to stop working and stay home to raise their sons; she was dedicated to her family and loved them fiercely. In 1969, George and Betty moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, and except for a few years living in Sulphur, Oklahoma, for George's employment, they remained in Woodward until the Lord called them Home.

Betty enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing, but her focus was her family. She and George loved their family intensely and were thrilled to begin welcoming grandchildren. The families visited back and forth as often as possible, and soon the granddaughters (who lived in Texas) were spending much time in the summers in Woodward with Poppa and Grandma. They took many vacations around the country and enjoyed seeing the sights together. Their grandson, who moved with his family to Woodward at age 6, was able to spend lots of time with them. They especially enjoyed going fishing together. The memories the grandkids made with Poppa and Grandma are fun and happy ones and will be cherished for a lifetime.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, and her beloved husband, George. She is survived by her sons George Jr. and wife, Tanya, of Denton, Texas; Tim and wife, Merry, of Woodward; special niece, Pat Phillips, husband Don, and great-niece Annie, of Woodward; granddaughters Erin Webb and husband Jeff, Austin, Texas; Rayna Keene and husband Joel, Houston, Texas; Kyra Springer, Denton, Texas; Cameron Springer, Denton, Texas; grandson Eric Springer, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; niece Dixie Simmons and husband Tim; nephew Michael Masonhall, sister-in-law Sachiko Huskey, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and other nieces and nephews.
