Shirley J. Snider, 67 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Becky Pierson officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Shirley Jean Snider was born on December 28, 1946 in Borger, Texas to Robert William Gribble and Viola Mae (Fowler) Gribble. Shirley’s family lived for awhile in Borger before moving to Ashland and Coldwater, Kansas. The family moved to Woodward in 1956 and Shirley attended the Woodward schools. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1964. Shirley was united in marriage to Charles Vernon Snider on March 23, 1965 in Clayton, New Mexico. They made their home in Buffalo before moving to Woodward. She worked for the Fruit of the Loom Underwear Factory, the Sands Motel cleaning rooms. Shirley worked at Maries Villa as a Waitress for 20 years and Walmart for 13 years.
Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially watching her children and grandchildren rodeoing and playing sports.
She was a member of the New Horizon United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Snider Jr. and wife Deborah of Oklahoma City; Bart Snider and wife Kimberlee of Woodward; five brothers, Tom Gribble and wife Dorma of Lindsey, Jim Gribble and wife Margene of Woodward, Link Gribble, Larry Gribble and wife Tutor of Woodward, Bill Gribble of San Diego, California; eight grandchildren Cullen Snider and wife Candace, Tori Snider, Jesika Snider, Jakob Snider, Laney Jo Snider, Colt Snider, Denton Mars, and Rowdy Mars; two great-grandchildren, Tatum Snider, Bradin Snider; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Snider, and her parents, Bob and Viola Gribble.
Memorials may be made to the New Horizon United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
