Wayne Shurtz, 60-year-old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Janet Fitz officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Richard Wayne Shurtz, Jr was born on October 28, 1960 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Richard Wayne Sr. and Mary Ellen (Wylie) Shurtz. Wayne grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. He was united in marriage to Cindi Rayann Pratt on August 4, 1979 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Woodward and moved to Canyon City, Colorado for a period of time before moving back to Woodward. Wayne worked in the Gas Industry as a Compressor Mechanic for C.S.I., Compressco, and Detroit Diesel. He also worked for John Deere and he retired from the City of Woodward as a Mechanic in January of 2021.
He loved his family and loved spending time with them. Wayne enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR, football, and pretty much anything with horsepower.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cindi Shurtz of the home; two sons: James Shurtz, Bryan Shurtz and wife Tamara; one daughter, Kortni Johnson; one sister, Sandra Shurtz; grandchildren: Layne Shurtz, Brody Shurtz, Ryan Lynn Shurtz, Adalyn Shurtz, Kaylee Frazier, and Preslee Johnson; nieces and nephews, Megan Shurtz, Morgan Shurtz, Devin Harrison, Cody Pratt, Cole Pratt, Jessie Pratt; mother-in-law, Norma Miller; in-laws, Jim Pratt and wife Jean; brother-in-law, Steve McKnight; sisters-in-law, Cindy Pratt, Cathy Dykes, and Debbie Galvin; numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Mary Shurtz, grandparents, James and Maude Wylie, brother-in-law, Ronny Pratt, his uncle Leonard Wylie, sister-in-law, Gina Riemann, father-in-law Bev Miller and one son Ronny Shurtz on April 8, 2021.
