Ervill Eugene Shahan

Gene Shahan, 60 year old Woodward resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home in Woodward surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the First Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. The family asks that attendees wear something made by Diane or OU colors.

Ervill Eugene Shahan was born on July 31, 1960 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Ervill Shahan and Jean (Adams) Little Charley. Gene grew up in Enid, Fargo and Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1978. He was united in marriage to Diane Lynn Keding on July 11, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time. Gene worked for National Oil Well and later retired from the City of Woodward. Gene and Diane were the owners of several successful businesses in Woodward including, the Woodward Bowling Center, S&S Storage, and most recently R-5 Custom Embroidery Shop.

Gene was a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved spending time with his wife Diane, and spending time with his children and grandkids who he loved dearly. He enjoyed going to the races, going to the casino, and attending OU football games.

He is survived by his step-father, Joe Little Charley of Woodward, children: Jamie Miller and wife Savanna, JaNice Phillips and husband Adam, Brandon Miller and wife Ashley all of Woodward; grandchildren: Tadyn Miller, Catherine Hensley, Porter Hensley, Tyson Miller, Ali Vassar, Kash Shipley, Miley Vassar, Ava Miller, Maci Miller, Bo Miller, Christian Hensley, Remington Phillips; one great-grandchild, Cadence Gene Miller; brothers: Greg Shahan and wife Julie of Woodward, Terry Little Charley and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, Douglas Shahan of Oklahoma City; sisters: Diana Yochum of Okay, Oklahoma, Deborah Allen of Woodward, and Cheryl Harris of Woodward; best friends, Kevin and Suzan O’Brien, Leon Ramirez, Mike Farley, and racing buddy James Penrod; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Diane Shahan who passed away on December 11, 2020, mother, Jean Little Charley, mother-law, Verdine Keding, father-in-law, Meryle Keding, father Ervill Shahan, grandparents, Mandy and Nelson Shahan, John Adams, and Milton and Mae McKenna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward Hope Center with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
