JUANITA ROOTS

Juanita Roots, 79 year old Woodward resident died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Don Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Juanita P. (Waddle) Roots was born on December 12, 1934 in Vici, Oklahoma; the daughter of Herbert Guy and Edna Mae (Carey) Waddle. Juanita was reared in the Vici area, attended Vici schools and graduated from Vici High School with the class of 1953. Juanita was united in marriage to Roy Roots in August of 1963 in Enid and the couple made their home in Woodward. Juanita worked at the Office of Juvenile Affairs in Woodward as the District Secretary until her retirement.

Juanita volunteered at the Woodward Food Bank. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed country music, her pets, camping during her younger life, traveling with friends, OU football, reading, puzzle books and puzzles.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, LeNita Smith of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Harrel Waddle of Woodward; Herbert Waddle of Kaw City; special friends almost adopted daughters, Becky Hostetler; Jennie Small both of Woodward; nieces, one nephew, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy; daughter, Janet Beetem; brother, Howard Waddle; sister, Pauline Swenn; daughter.

Memorial donations may be made to the Woodward County Humane Society, or the American Diabetes Association with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
