Erma Richardson, 93 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday morning May 23, 2012 at the Vici Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 26, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Woodward Church of Christ. Officiating ministers will be James Bailey and Jim Rucker. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery of Woodward under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Woodward. Erma Blanche Richardson was born on July 25, 1918 at Woodward, Oklahoma to Oscar and Mary May (Benne) Covalt. She grew up in the Woodward area and attended the Woodward Schools where she graduated. Erma went to work in the Southwestern Bell Telephone office and worked for thirty years retiring as a Supervisor for training new operator's. She met Virgil Albert Richardson on a blind date and they were united in marriage on November 30, 1960 in Woodward. They made their home on a farm north of Woodward until 1964 when they moved to town. Erma was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. She liked to visit with friends in the hospital 0and nursing homes. In her leisure time Erma enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Limb and Verta Charmasson; two brothers, Alvin Covalt and wife Nina and Jim Covalt and wife Betty; many nieces, nephews other relatives and numerous friends. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Covalt, her husband Virgil, three sisters and four brothers -in- law. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward Church of Christ Building Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
