The funeral for Margaret Amelia Tyler Pierce, 83, of Woodward, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Crown Heights Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Steenbergen will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery . Arrangements are by Nichols-Zwanziger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Woodward. Visit-ation with the family is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born June 10, 1926, in Hot Springs, Ark., to John and Cora Cooper Tyler and died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

She graduated from Center High School. She married B.F. Frank Pierce April 25, 1945. They traveled with work in the oil fields through Texas, Colorado, West Virginia, New Mexico and Oklahoma before making their home in Woodward in 1966. In 1966, she became active with the WBIC, holding many offices, and spent 43 years participating in national bowling tournaments. She became a licensed practical nurse in 1969 through Woodward Hospital. She was a member of Crown Heights Baptist Church, Senior Citizens Center, serving as treasurer, Pink Ladies, holding several offices, and Lucky Dozen Club. She also was a junior high school reading mentor for several years.

Surviving are three sons, Dean Pierce of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Keith Pierce and David Pierce, both of Woodward; one daughter, Janice Pierce-Decker of Edmond; a brother, Bill Tyler of Henryetta; two sisters, Gladys Myers of Del Norte , Colo., and Betty Jo Calvert of Henryetta; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.F., one son and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Pink Ladies.
