Funeral: 2:00 PM Monday, January 26th, 2015 - Crown Heights Baptist Church

Interment: Monday, January 26th, 2015 - Elmwood Cemetery

Ralph Persons Jr, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 26, 2015 at Crown Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Junior Zollinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with United State Navy providing military graveside rites.

Ralph Persons was born on April 14, 1923 in Fargo, Oklahoma to Ralph Melvin and Maggie Grace (Morgan) Persons. Ralph grew up around Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School in 1942. He was inducted into the United States Navy on May 4, 1943. He served his country on several different vessels, including the USS Case and the USS President Adams. Ralph was honorably discharged on April 8, 1946. After Ralph came home from the war, he went on a blind date with a young girl he called “Boots”. He and Christine “Boots” were united in marriage on March 17, 1947 in Woodward. They made their home in Woodward and were blessed with three children, Dick, Danny, and Nancy.

One week after the Woodward tornado, Ralph went to work for OG&E on a temporary basis. After 38 years, he retired from OG&E as a Chief Operator. He farmed and ranched in Ellis County all throughout his life.

Ralph was a charter member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church and was currently a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Fargo. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He would take them to the farm to work, but they usually ended up fishing with grandpa. He will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Christine Persons of the home; one daughter, Nancy Meyer of Fargo; two sons, Dick Persons and wife Jeannie of Woodward, Danny Persons and wife Marlyn of Woodward; grandchildren, Heath Persons and wife Kelli of Mooreland, Sarah Persons of Woodward, Heidi Woodmansee and husband Adrian of Woodward, Haley Persons of Wooodward; great-grandchildren, Chandler Persons, Easton Persons, Hudson Persons, Jordan Persons, Lennon Persons, Maycie Coulson, Cooper Coulson, Parker Brown, Hayden Brown, Hannah Brown, Mackenzie Persons; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Randy Meyer, and a grandson Ryan Persons in 2001.

Memorial contributions may be made to the WOOF Pet Rescue or the charity of your choice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
