Danny Persons, 68 year old Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Alliance Health Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Danny Paul Persons was born on December 17, 1951 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Ralph and Christine (Braley) Persons. Danny grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. He was united in marriage to Marlyn Terbush on May 12, 1973 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Woodward before moving to Mooreland. They later moved back to Woodward and have lived there since that time.
He worked as a Foreman for the USDA Experimental Range for over 40 years, retiring in 2014. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Any activity they were involved in he was there supporting them. Danny enjoyed traveling to ropings and team ropings. He was a member of the USTRC and the Cattlemens Association.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn Persons of the home; two daughters: Heidi Woodmansee and husband Adrian, Haley Persons and Eric Millison; one sister, Nancy Meyer; six grandchildren: Parker Brown, Hayden Brown and fiancee Mariah Dermady, Hannah Brown, Mackenzie Persons and fiancee Preston Estep, Maycie Coulson and Kooper Coulson; special nephew, Brett Bates; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Christine Persons, brother, Dick Persons, brother-in-law, Randy Meyer, and nephew Ryan Persons.
Memorials may be made to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
