David Patterson, 88 year old Woodward resident died Saturday, September 13, 2025. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 22, 2025 in Elmwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
David Frank Patterson was born on June 28, 1937 in Ordway, Colorado the son of Charlie Henry and Minnie Margaret (Kriftewirth) Patterson. David grew up in Garden City, Kansas and Dighton, Kansas. He graduated from Dighton High School, where he made many memories on the football field. David was united in marriage to Linda Rae Mack on December 31, 1955 in Dighton, Kansas. They made their home in Deerfield, Kansas before moving to Woodward in June of 1969. David spent his working career as a Production Superintendent in the oil and gas industry. Linda preceded him in death on March 19, 2010.
David was then united in marriage to Anita Mae Harbin on February 14, 2011 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, they made their home in Woodward.
David enjoyed his work in the oil and gas industry. There he was the 2015 recipient of the Bobby Joe Cudd Legacy award. He received this award for his hard work, innovation, leadership, and his sustainability. After he reluctantly retired from work, he found enjoyment in camping, spending time with family, his dogs, trips to the casinos, and square dancing with the Woodward Wranglers. He was also fond of his honey bees and gardening. For a time, David and his son Daron kept bees together.
David is survived by his wife Anita Patterson, of the home; son, Daron Patterson and wife Diane of Woodward; daughter, Kris Day and companion Tony Pickens of Mooreland; grandchildren, Jerid Patterson and wife Kristen; Jill Allen; Keith Day; and Kelly McDonald and husband Troy; great-grandchildren, Layne and Lyla Patterson; Carson Patterson; Autumn Noreuil; Tyler and Austin Day; Slade and Macy McDonald; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides his wife Linda, he was preceded in death by his parents, son, Bryon Patterson, brothers, John, and Bob, sisters, Vera, Jeanie, and Mary.
