J.D. NUNLEY

April 21, 1941 - April 13, 2018

J.D. Nunley, 76, of Longdale and longtime resident of Woodward, passed from this life in Alva, Oklahoma on Friday, April 13, 2018. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

James Dan Nunley was born on April 21, 1941 in Valliant, Oklahoma to Iven and Ruby (Woods) Nunley. J.D. was reared in Valliant, Lindsay, and Woodward. He worked his entire life in the Oilfield Industry. He retired in 2003 and eventually moved to Longdale, and enjoyed his lake days.

He enjoyed listening to George Jones music while tinkering in his shop, fishing, and lending a helping hand to those in need. One of his greatest memories was a trip to Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee in May of 2016 with Alma and his girls. They visited the Grand Ole Opry, the George Jones Museum, and ate at George Jones Choices Restaurant.

He is survived by his wife Alma of the home; son, Danny Nunley and wife Tina of Mooreland; daughters, Shannon Vore and husband Shane of Alva; Carrie Meyer and husband Mike of Stillwater; grandchildren, Stetson and Sadie Vore of Alva; Jackson and Kory Meyer of Stillwater; Jonathan Nunley of Woodward; Tamra Nunley of Mooreland; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Nunley and wife Tony of Tecumseh; one sister, Marie Carter of Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iven and Ruby Nunley, five brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beadles Nursing Home in Alva with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
