Elva Mae (Jones) Neagle, a long-time resident of Woodward, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church with David Sauls officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Elva Mae Jones was born July 6, 1938 on the Earnest Clark farm west of Mutual, Oklahoma to Lillie Mae and Alva Jones. She was raised on a farm southwest of Mutual and attended Mutual Public School. Elva Mae married Louis Neagle on July 10, 1955 in the Mutual Christian Church. They made their home in Woodward, where Elva Mae graduated from high school in 1956. Four children were born to Elva Mae and Louis - Larry, Karen, Donna and Brian. Elva Mae was a homemaker- sewing, cooking and raising their family. She was also a custom dress maker. She worked for the Woodward Public Schools for sixteen years. In 1979, she went to work for Figley-Salz Co. Upon retiring in 2003 she kept busy making quilts and being active in the Friendship Quilting Guild. She also loved sewing for her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Elva Mae was an active member of the First Christian Church. She taught Bible School and served several years on the Membership Committee and the Cooking for Christ Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Neagle, four children- Larry and wife Judy of Edmond, Karen and husband Daniel Leroux of Perth, Australia, Donna and husband Gary Moore of Collinsville and Brian of Woodward. She leaves nine grandchildren- Mandy Garvie, Kandace Phillips, Kristen Patterson, Lance Neagle, Nicole Esler, Christopher Leroux, Candice Moore, Brittany Moore, and Alyson Moore. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends including one sister, Julia Ann Jones of Oklahoma City, who was also her best friend. Elva Mae was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Woodward, Oklahoma with Billings Funeral Home accepting the contributions.
