John McCoy, 50 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Woodward Church of Christ with David Heflin officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
John Calvin McCoy was born June 28, 1968 in Great Bend, Kansas to Fred Ray and Jeanette Lynn (Gilley) McCoy. John grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward schools, graduating with the class of 1987. He worked for Hodges, Roadrunner, Phillips and Son, and was currently driving a truck for Lanes Trucking.
He loved racing and anything to do with racing. John loved working on race cars with his brother and son and friends. He loved being at the track any chance he could. John also loved being with his family and they will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his children: Ashland Herbst, Jon Derrick, Kendra McCoy, and Freddy McCoy; one grandchild, Camden Johnson; one brother Jonathan McCoy and wife Meagan and their children Jayden and Tracen McCoy; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jeanette McCoy and many aunts and uncles.
