Billy R. McClendon, 76 year old May, Oklahoma resident and former Woodward resident, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at his son Tom's home in May. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mary Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army.
Billy Ray McClendon was born on March 16, 1943 in McCaskill, Arkansas to L.C. and Cloia Lee Copeland McClendon. His dad died early on and Billy was raised by his step-dad, Jack Brown. Billy grew up in McCaskill, Arkansas and attended school there. Billy was inducted into the United States Army in 1967 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1968.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Treva Elaine Clow on May 10, 1973 in Woodward, Oklahoma and they were blessed with one son, Tom. They made their home in Yukon where Billy worked and was a member of the 48 Iron Workers Union in Oklahoma City. The family later moved to Guymon and Billy worked for the City of Guymon. They moved to Woodward and Billy worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department until he retired.
He was a member of the St. John????????s Episcopal Church in Woodward. Billy loved spending time with the family and he enjoyed going to Ft. Supply Lake to feed the geese. His greatest joy was being with his wife, his son, his grandchildren and his pups. He loved going fishing with the grandkids.
He is survived by his son, Tom McClendon and wife Cassandra; three grandchildren, Austin Ray McClendon, Nathan Ray McClendon, and Heaven Elaine McClendon; step-dad, Jack Brown; brothers-in-law, J.M. Dowell, Derald Clow and wife Donna and Bob Barnett; other relatives and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 40 years, Treva.
