Leo Verle Morgan

June 4, 1934 ~ January 14, 2019

Leo Morgan, formerly of Mutual, OK, but recently living in Woodward, OK, died January 14, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Leo was born on June 4, 1934 on the family farm near Harmon, OK. He was the youngest of nine children born to Ernest and Agatha Morgan. He spent his youth in and around the Harmon, Fargo, and Follett, TX, area then he joined the Army in 1956, doing his tour in Korea.

On October 25, 1958, he married Doretta Whitsitt of Mutual, OK. They then made their home in Mutual for almost sixty years. They had two daughters, Terri and Twila, and attended the First Christian Church of Mutual. Leo worked 36 years for Woodward County on the road crews early-on and later driving a road grader before retiring in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Doretta Morgan of Woodward, his daughter Terri and her spouse Deb Buntzen of Amarillo, TX; Twila Day and her husband Steve Day of Woodward; and his adopted third child, niece Tawnia Zink and her husband Bill Zink of Ellinwood, KS. He has three granddaughters. Kerissa Phillips and her husband Clint Phillips of Stillwater, OK; Brenna Neill and her husband Jeryn Neill of Stillwater,OK; and Stephanie Hyde and her husband Will Hyde of St. Louis, Missouri.

Leo has four great-grandchildren, Harper Phillips, Ryker Neill, Asher Phillips, and Dayton Leo Phillips all of Stillwater, OK. He also has another great-grandchild on the way in June, his birth month, in St. Louis, MO. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families whom he loved and cherished.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernest and his mother Agatha; brothers Ernie, Elmer, George, and Bob; and sisters Leona McCaslin, Dorothy Hunt, Bessie Eastwood, and Ruth Smith.

Services will be Friday, January 18th at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church of Mutual. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward. Viewing will be Thursday, January 17th at the Billings Funeral Home in Woodward. Internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward
