Jack Miller, 76 year old resident of Selman, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in Buffalo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard McFarlin officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by the Woodward Masonic Lodge #189. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Jack Albert C Miller was born September 2, 1932 in Denver, Colorado; he was the son of Albert C. and Eva (Carvel) Miller. Jack attended first grade through high school in Woodward, graduating with the class of 1950. He attended the University of Oklahoma then transferred to Southwestern State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History in the fall semester of 1954. Jack and Patsy Ruth Annis were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church January 31, 1954. After graduation from Southwestern State University, they moved to the family farm in the Charleston community that was the homestead of her grandfather, William Henry Harrison Higbee, established in 1902.
Jack joined the Woodward Masonic Lodge #189 AF&AM at the age of 21. He became a Master Mason and was a 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite. Jack was also a member of the Woodward York Rite Chapter #72 R.A.M., Woodward Council #52 C.M. St. Aumer Commandery #29 K.T. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Oklahoma City court 78 as well as a member of the Woodward Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge #452, Legion #147 of Woodward. Jack held perpetual membership in Woodward Lodge #189 A.F.&A.M. Scottish Rite, Valley of Guthrie, and the Woodward St. Aumer commandery #29 K.T. as well as a perpetual member in the India Shrine Center. He was very proud to bestow his gift of perpetual membership to his son, Michael A. Miller and grandson Shaun Thomas Miller upon their attainments as Master Mason, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Guthrie and India Shrine center. He was very busy and dedicated with his work for the India Shrine and his community service, working many days helping to raise funds for the Shriners Hospital; it was all about the children. Jack formed the first Boy Scouts of America troop in Selman and was the scout master until it merged with the Buffalo Scout troop.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ruth Miller of the home; one son Michael A Miller and wife Resa of Selman; one grandson, Shaun Thomas Miller and wife Tanya of Woodward; two step grandchildren, Daniel Baxter and wife Liz of Duncan; Brooke Christensen and husband H. L. of Oklahoma City; two cousins Bill Fuson and Mary Grant of Dothan, Alabama.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the India Shrine Center, the Woodward Transportation fund or the First Presbyterian Church of Woodward with the funeral home accepting the memorials.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward with the Reverend Becky Pierson officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Patsy Ruth Miller was born on August 8, 1933 in Woodward, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Clarence and Wilda Annis. Patsy attended school in Woodward, and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelors degree.
Jack Miller and Patsy Ruth Annis were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church on January 31, 1954. After graduation, they moved to the family farm in the Charleston community that was the homestead of her grandfather, William Henry Harrison Higbee, established in 1902.
Patsy enjoyed spending time with her family, and cooking big meals for the family was one of her favorite things. She was truly the Matriarch of the Miller Clan. She loved traveling and gardening, and was very involved with the Garden Club of America, holding several state and national offices.
Patsy Ruth Miller was preceded by her husband, Jack and is survived by one son Michael A. Miller, and one grandson, Shaun T. Miller.
