Opal Frances (Smith) Miller

Opal Miller, 84 year old Woodward resident, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Opal Francis (Smith) Miller was born on January 7, 1937 in Alva, Oklahoma to Guy and Helen (Rexroat) Smith. Opal grew up in the Aline-Cleo, Oklahoma area and graduated from Aline-Cleo High School. She was united in marriage to Joe Harvey Miller on June 28, 1957 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Woodward and lived in Amarillo, Texas for a period of time before moving back to Woodward.

She was an excellent Seamstress, a babysitter for years, worked at a Bakery, and was a Foster parent. Opal loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and always enjoyed when the family got together. She also enjoyed watching her game shows.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Miller and wife Novell of Woodward; two daughters: Pam Whitsitt and husband Don of Strasburg, Colorado, Joetta Wilson of Catoosa, Oklahoma; two brothers: Vernon Smith and Bobby Smith; one sister, Joni Young and husband Charles; grandchildren: Mary Brandon and Stephen, Frank Miller, Joey Miller, Madison Miller, Nikki Coonts and husband Josh, Kori Beeck and husband Alex, Shandra Pinion and husband Luke, Kalie Wilson, Chaney Harges and husband Daniel; 12 great-grandchildren: other relatives and friends.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Miller on March 11, 1989, and two sisters, Ellen Ferguson and Faye Miller.
