DORIS EVELYN HIGHFILL MAUPIN

Woodward, Okla. — Doris Evelyn (Highfill) Maupin went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Woodward. Her funeral services was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Interment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Evelyn Highfill Maupin was born on August 5, 1929 in Eskridge, Kansas to Harry and Ethel (Davis) Highfill. She was reared in Mooreland and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1947. Evelyn was united in marriage to Wayne "Douglas" Maupin on May 20, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and Doug continues to live in their original home. During her lifetime she worked at Little's Drug Store, Southwestern Bell Telephone, Adams Grocery Store, Kline's Mechanical, and aslo as a bookkeeper for the family business- OK TV.

Evelyn was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and was very involved in her church, especially with the Baptist Women's Association. Evelyn enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers, going camping and fishing with her family and most of all, she enjoyed family. She was always looking forward to the times that the family would gather in her home so that she could be with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Doug, her three daughters, Penny Meadows and her husband Billy of Fulshire, Texas, Sue Ann Hogue and husband Russ of Edmond, Shelly Wood and her husband Patrick of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Alvin Highfill and his wife Kathy of Woodward, Gordon Highfill and his wife Evelyn of Dallas, Texas, her sister-in-law, Ella Catherine Highfill of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Shyla Funk, Tara Clark, Billie Meadows, Rusty Hogue, Mendy Shepherd, Dustin Hogue, Amy Wood; six great-grandchildren, Sage Clark, Selby Funk, Kyra Funk, Blayre Meadows, Austin Hogue, Tyler Hogue and Miles Shepard who is on the way. She also has many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Dean Highfill and one great-grandchild, Saria Clark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church 3rd Grade Bible Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
