Gene Lewis, 64 year old Woodward resident, passed from this life April 4, 2018 at home with his wife and children by his side. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 8, 2018 in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gene Nelson Lewis was born on November 9, 1953 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Cecil E. and Mary F. (Geddes) Lewis. Gene graduated from Woodward High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Vienna Harzman of Kingfisher, they made their home in Woodward. To this union two children were born, daughter, Jeanna Lynn and son, Ross Edward. Gene worked in the construction business for forty years. He also farmed and ranched. He loved working with his horses, and was proud of the quality of cattle he had raised. Gene always looked forward to hay season, when he put up and could count the bales produced. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Vienna Lewis of the home; daughter, Jeanna Mullins and husband Ryan of Woodward; son, Ross Lewis and wife Tess of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Vincent Padilla; Blake Mullins; and Edee Lewis; sister, Barbara Lewis of Woodward; brother-in-law, Alan Harzman and wife Kay of Kingfisher; sister-in-law, Chris Yost and husband Dr. Gene Yost of Crescent; nieces, Melissa Lewis; Alana Weaver; Sarah Nealis; and Mariah Harmon; nephews, Dirk Harzman; and Justin McCracken; other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Lewis; and father-in-law, Fred (Bud) Harzman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward High School FFA with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
