December 27, 1931 ~ July 30, 2024

Wilma Sue Latta, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 30,2024. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Saturday, August 3rd at the Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sue was the youngest of three children born to Jennings and Bessie (Lewis) Garrett. The family moved to Fort Supply in Sue's younger years and she graduated from Fort Supply High School in 1950. Sue was an excellent student and played basketball while enjoying every activity that high school life had to offer. While in high school Sue made many lifelong friends including her future sister in law Dorothy (Weibel) Latta.

On August 6, 1952 Sue married Dwight Latta in San Diego while Dwight was on leave. They lived in Long Beach, California for only a few months before his deployment. After his service, the couple moved to Stillwater where Dwight completed his Bachelor's in Agriculture Mechanics and Sue worked at Ditch Witch.

After Dwight finished his education they moved back to Fort Supply where he taught Vo-Ag and Sue began her career as a secretary including a stint as the school secretary while Dwight was Superintendent. She was employed as office manager at Boomer Buick and NW Ford Tractor all while keeping the family farm's books straight. Sue worked at the County Clerk's office and upon retirement served as bookkeeper for Wes Sander. She was meticulous and loved to work and enjoyed all of the relationships formed during her career.

Sue loved her family the most. She thrived as a wife, mother, mother in law, and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and delivered hundreds of delicious meals to the field, watched hundreds of ballgames, attended hundreds of hog shows, and rocked every single grandbaby every chance she had. Sue cross stitched a Christmas stocking for each family member and couldn't wait to get started on the next one when someone was expecting. She loved all three of her daughter in laws and was most proud of her nine grandkids. She loved to play cards, dance and could always be counted on for any board or card game the grandkids wanted to play. She was so much FUN! She taught us how to laugh, and love, and be tough, and get the most out of each day. She loved with an unconditional fierceness that is uncommon and we all loved her back. She truly was the glue that held us all together.

Sue and Dwight celebrated 71 years of marriage and experienced their family expanding to include fifty-two. Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband Dwight: her parents Jennings and Bessie Garrett; brother Bill Garrett and sister in law Mildred; brother Charles Garrett and sister in law Laura; Father and Mother in law John and Reva Latta; brother in law, Ernest Latta; sister-in-law, Dorothy Latta; and sister in law, Joyce Latta Hamilton.

She is survived by her loving sons, J.B. Latta wife Connie of Fargo; son, Rod Latta and wife Teresa of Fort Supply; son, Kent Latta and wife Lynda of Gage; nine grandchildren, Rex Latta and wife Delicia of Fargo; Kyla Smith and husband Stephen of Hinton; Sara Peck and husband Trent of Hunter; Latisha Dunham and husband Tra of Fort Supply; Colt Latta and wife Natalie of May; Tabitha McCartor and husband J.B. of Arnett; Tyler Latta and wife Beth of Edmond; Riley Latta and wife Joni of Arnett; Shelby Aranda and husband Rigo of Buffalo; 26 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Pat Highfill of Woodward; brother in law, Johnny Latta and wife Rella of Fargo; numerous nieces, and nephews, as well as many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humanity Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
