Graveside: 2:00 PM Friday, September 11th, 2015 - Elmwood Cemetery
Violet L. (Harper) Lane, 79 year old former Woodward County resident, passed from this life on Monday, September 7, 2015 in the First Shamrock Care Center in Kingfisher. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family will be receiving friends at Billings Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015.
Violet Leota Harper Lane was born February 27, 1936 to Allen Raymond and Edith Maria (Neihart) Harper. She attended Gage Grade School until the 8th grade. She then moved to Woodward County with her family and graduated from Tangier High School in 1954. In school, she was a member of the cheerleaders and played guard on the basketball team. After graduating high school she attended cosmetology school and was a hair dresser for many years.
Violet loved to paint and draw and collected antiques and lived most of her life in Woodward County.
She was preceded in death by her father on February 29, 1980 and her mother on May 21, 2010. She is survived by her brother Jack Harper and wife Diane of Calera, Oklahoma; one niece Rebecca Cooper and husband Clayton of Calera; nephews, Bryce Harper and wife Melissa of Calera, Brad Harper and wife Cathy of Calera, and Bart Harper and wife Michelle of Madill; six great-nephews, three great nieces, and numerous cousins and friends.
