LAVERTTA KINNEY

March 20, 1939 - June 9, 2018

Lavertta Margaret Kinney, 79 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the Vici Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the St. John's Episcopal Church with Reverend Mary Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Lavertta Margaret (Winters) Kinney was born March 20, 1939 in rural Woodward County, Oklahoma to George and Mattie (Williamson) Winters. She was a lifelong Woodward resident except for a few years in Seiling and Guymon as a child. Lavertta attended schools in Seiling, Guymon, and Woodward.

She was united in marriage to Bruce J. Kinney on April 13, 1957 in Seiling, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and were blessed with two daughters: Jody and Debi. Lavertta was a beautician in several salons in Woodward, worked at the Pioneer Museum and retired in 2000 from the Commerce Department of the Federal Government.

Lavertta was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church. She loved her church and her church family. She also enjoyed her bridge club and playing cards with her dear friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Jody Easterwood and husband Lynn of Fort Supply, Debi Crouch of Woodward; six grandchildren: Troy and Amber Crouch, Jaynee Christopher, B. Jay and Tara Crouch, Caleb and Jessica Easterwood, Jordan and Madison Bolay, Jolyn Easterwood; 11 great-grandchildren: Kaycey, Jacob, Shanae, Shanice, C.J., Mikayla, Bruce, Shaden, Isaac, Barron and Emma; two great-great grandchildren, Mila and Liam; three step great-grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, and Mike; brothers: Gary and Cindy Winters of Guymon, Oklahoma, Short and Claudia Winters of Guymon, Oklahoma and Stan and Debbie Winters of Mertens, Texas; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce J. Kinney on November 24, 1987, her parents, an infant grandson, four brothers, Vernon Winters, Irvin Winters, Leslie Winters, and Danny Winters and her sister Naomi Crawford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
