Candace Johnson, 46 year old Woodward resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a courageous fight against cancer on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Bible Baptist Church with her husband, Reverend Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Candace Marie Johnson was born on January 24, 1976 in Covina, California to Paul and Virginia (Pratt) Bakan. She grew up in Covina, attended West Covina Christian through the 8th grade and graduated from Calvary Baptist Academy. Candie then went to Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education.
Candie's greatest love was for Jesus Christ whom she trusted in as her personal Lord and Savior, and she was never the same. She completely trusted Him and honored Him regardless of the trials of life.
Candie was united in marriage to Jesse Johnson on June 8, 1996 in San Dimas, California. God blessed them with five children: Weston, Ashley, Logan, Colton, and Kaylee.
They made their first home in La Verne, California and moved shortly after college to Ellicott, Colorado where they began 25 years of serving side by side in full time Christian ministry. Candace faithfully and zealously served the Lord beside her husband in a church plant in Glendale, CA, then in a church in Lancaster, California, and finally as the Pastor’s wife at Bible Baptist Church in Woodward, OK.
For the last nine years she has excelled as a wonderful Pastor's wife. She touched each life she came into contact with reaching many with the gospel, discipling and counseling several ladies, and planning and putting on Ladies events and children's events at the church. She was very gifted and incredibly creative. She was sweet and kind to everyone no matter who they were and counted it a privilege to serve them. Candie was a wonderful example of a godly lady displaying that through her close walk with her Lord, and in the many sacrificial ways in which she served her Lord and joyfully met the needs of her family. She was a dedicated wife and devoted mother. She was a tremendous cook. She made every holiday and birthday incredibly special. She loved spending time with her family hiking, biking, tubing, and camping. She enjoyed crafting, and she absolutely loved finding bargains and thrifting,
She is survived by her husband Jesse Johnson of the home; three sons: Weston Johnson and wife Jayme of Woodward, Logan Johnson of Woodward, Colton Johnson of Woodward; two daughters: Ashley Johnson of Woodward and Kaylee Johnson of Woodward; her parents, Paul and Virginia Bakan; two brothers: Paul Bakan of Cook, Nebraska, James Bakan and wife Courtney of Cook, Nebraska; one sister Carrie Pulaski and husband Andrew of Whitesboro, Alabama; many nephews, nieces, countless extended family members, friends, and fellow church members who will miss her but remember her Godly testimony.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorethea Pratt, grandfather Galen Pratt, grandmother Estelle Bakan, grandfather Theodore Bakan, her uncle Lloyd Bakan, and her uncle Paul and aunt Virginia Lander.
