Evelyn Gentry, 87 year old Woodward resident, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Mary Evelyn (Giles) Gentry was born on May 23, 1934 in Yeager, Oklahoma to James Wesley (Bud) and Maudie Beatrice (Bennett) Giles. Evelyn grew up in Yeager, Oklahoma and graduated from Yeager High School. She was united in marriage to Elston Davis in 1953 and they were blessed with two children, Brenda and Mike.

She was united in marriage to Delbert Gentry on August 28, 1965 in Del City, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two children, Tara and Tisha. They made their home in Del City before moving to Woodward. Evelyn was a homemaker until they moved to Woodward and became the Owner/Operators of the local McDonald's.

Evelyn loved working at the Store, mowing her yard, gardening, baking, making candy, and serving others. She also played school basketball as a teenager. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Woodward and had served as a Sunday School teacher and was on a number of committees throughout her life. Her deepest love and enjoyment was her faith, her family, and the Store (and its people).

She is survived by son, Mike Davis and wife Angi of Seneca, South Carolina; daughters: Brenda Wright of Yukon, Tara Gentry of Yukon, Tisha Gentry of Orlando, Florida; one brother Bill Giles; one sister Phyllis O'Donley and husband Richard; five grandchildren: Jarrid Wright and wife Kristi, Brad Wright, Ronda Smith, Jess Davis and wife Tina, Nate Davis and wife Tracy; nine great-grandchildren: Anna, Wesley, Eryn, Avery, Brenum, Ethan, Caleb, Emilia, Vivienne; many other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Maudie Giles, brothers Jim and Charlie; great-grandson, Kallan, son-in-law, Ron Wright and most recently her beloved husband Delbert.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimers research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
