Wilma Holman, 96 year old Woodward resident, died Friday November 15, 2019 in Vici, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Mabra officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangement are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
Wilma Irene (Farnsworth) Holman was born on July 13, 1923 in Lipscomb County, Texas to Albert and Vera (Stone) Farnsworth. She was reared in the Higgins area and attended Higgins Public Schools. In 1939, Wilma was united in marriage to Walter Frank Miller, to this union two children were born, Vernon and Yvonne. The couple moved to Lake Vincent until his death in 1960. She and the kids moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where Wilma began waiting tables and driving the laundry truck. She saved all her tips to buy a home for her family.
On January 12, 1971 she married the love of her life Ray Holman in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward on 6th Street and then on Hunter Road until his death in 2001.
Wilma enjoyed her family, taking care of her daughter, Yvonne, taking road trips, crochet, arts and crafts, cooking, and raising money for veterans. She was an active member and a national officer for the American Ex-POW organization, to help veterans get the benefits they deserve.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Miller; stepdaughter, Candy Hudgeons and husband Ken; stepson, J.R. Holman; brother, Ken Farnsworth; sister, Deloris Endsley; grandchildren: Yvonda Chapman, Yulonda Merry, Roy Lee Wreath, Yutina Daniels, Yutanya Martinez, Chad Miller, Molly Peters, Shelly Neely, Dean Hudgeons, Nathan Holman, and Clinton Holman; 23 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; spouses, Walter Miller and Ray Holman; infant twins who passed at birth; son, Vernon Miller; daughter, Yvonne Wreath; son in law, Leroy Wreath; grandson, Mark Miller; grandson in law, Doyle Daniels; granddaughter, Jennie Miller; brothers, Wesley and Don; and sisters, Vesta, Winnie, Anita, and Norma.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Clinton with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
