William "Bill" James Hill

January 6, 1934 ~ September 29, 2018

William (Bill) James Hill of Woodward, died September 29, 2018 at Alliance Health Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Army.

William James Hill was born January 6, 1934 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Clyde R. and Isel N. (Mason) Hill. Bill graduated from Mooreland High School in 1953. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1956 and served time in Germany before his honorable discharge in 1958. Bill married Cheryl Haller and they had two children: Kevin R. Hill and Cynthia Diane Hill.

Bill married Wilma Jean Carter on July 9, 1970 in Trinidad, Colorado. They had three children: Gary Don, Gayla Dawn, and Gina Denise. Bill worked as a parts man for Owens Supply Company, Waukesha-Pearce Inc., Marlatt Auto Supply, and Haskins Auto Company. After his retirement he worked for Chicken Roscoes and drove a mail truck to Gate, Laverne, and Waynoka. He carried mail until his health began to fail two years ago.

Bill loved to work in his garden, watch football games (especially O.U.), fishing, coin collecting, and spending time with family and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Charles, Wayne, and Don (Woody), one sister, Janice Haskins, a son, Kevin Hill, five sisters-in-law: Simmie Lou Hill, Betty Hill, Gladys Hill, Linda Hill, and Roberta Hill; three brothers-in-law: Bob Crawford, Skeet McDowell, and Doug McDowell; one nephew, Bobby Crawford, and one niece Connie Lou Crawford.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jean; one son, Gary Hill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three daughters: Cindy Grimmett of Washington, Gayla Kinder and husband Chad of Arapaho, and Gina Gilbreath of McAlester; three brothers: Dale Hill, Roscoe Hill and wife Ann of Woodward, Paul Hill of Vici; three sisters: Marge McDowell of Woodward, Joyce McDowell of Sharon, and Jeanie Decker and husband Duane of Waynoka and a brother-in-law, Dale Haskins of Woodward. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Becky Hobbs of Woodward, Tyler Hill of Lamont, Chelsea Hill of Tulsa, Natalie and Carson Kinder of Arapaho, and Camry and Cady Gilbreath of McAlester. Bill also had seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
