Lila Hensal, 94 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 in Vici, OK. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Woodward Church of Christ with David Heflin officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Lila Lee (Jernigan) Hensal was born on December 29, 1930 in Osage City, Kansas to Clyde LeRoy and Ella Lee (Bell) Jernigan. She grew up in Burlingame, Kansas and graduated from Burlingame High School. Lila worked as a Secretary for Esfeld Construction, where she met Johnny Hensal, the love of her life. They were united in marriage on October 17, 1950 in Wellington, Kansas and made their first home in Great Bend, Kansas. To this union, six children were born: Connie, Karen, Mike, Lisa, Jaci and Shelley. After moving to Woodward, Lila was the Office Manager for John Hensal Trucking, while keeping up with the many activities of their six children. Upon retirement, John and Lila moved to the lake, near Hemphill TX, where together they ran Scott's Marina. They returned to Woodward in 2011, and Lila has lived there since that time. She had a great devotion to her husband John, and she loved watching her children grow up and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one son Mike Hensal and wife Linda; two daughters: Jaci Musick and husband Carl, Shelley Long and fiancee Jerry Chapman; 13 grandchildren: Shelby Welsch and husband Jeff, Joshua Hensal and wife Kimberly, Jillian Wells and husband Daniel, Julia Foster and husband Ben, Ryan Luzum and wife Sofiya, Jaime Spencer and husband Kyle, Cody Musick, Sasha Dickens and husband Zach, Derek Long and wife Annika, Kaycee Musick, Jessica Ward and husband Tanner, Hailee Hallum and husband Hunter, Sadie Chasteen and husband Skylar; 28 great-grandchildren and a new baby to arrive in April; sons-in-law, Duane Luzum, Don Musick; other relatives and friends.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, one brother Gene Jernigan and three daughters Karen, Connie, and Lisa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward Church of Christ with the funeral home accepting the donations..
