Woodward – The funeral for Thelma Bertalee Hammans, 82, will be 2 PM Thursday in Garden Chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Johnnie Sharpton will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born June 27, 1917, in Woodward County to Samuel J. and Anna Wilson Bull and died Saturday, October 9, 1999, at the Woodward Hospital and Health Center.
She attended Woodward schools. On July 18, 1936, she married Joy J. Hammans in Woodward where they made their home. She worked at various cafés, including the Silver Moon. She also cleaned houses. They worked at Horace Mann School during the 1970s. She attended the Full Gospel Assembly.
Surviving are one daughter, Leona Freeman of Woodward; three sons, George, Leroy and Joy, all of Woodward; two sisters, Dorothy Begley of Woodward and Mabel McCray of Wendell, Idaho; one brother, Charlie Bull of Woodward; 18 grandchildren; 15 great – grandchildren; and two great – great – grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, four brothers and two sisters.
