Walt Hacker, an 82 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Walter Lee Hacker, Jr. was born on April 11, 1942 in Hillsboro, Kansas to Walter Lee Hacker, Sr. and Delia Pearl (Warkentine) Hacker. Walt grew up in the Meade and Ulysses, Kansas area and graduated from Meade High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia "Arlene" Kirkwood on November 5, 1961 in Cimarron, Kansas. They were blessed with three children: David Wayne, Lisa Gayle and Darren Lee. They made their first home in Dodge City, Kansas, and lived in Liberal, Kansas, Perryton, Texas, and Borger, Texas before settling in Woodward in the early 1970's. Walt retired as a Service Supervisor at Koda, but before that he worked for Jr.'s Rathole Drilling, Western Company, Service Fracturing, owned and operated Midway Rental Service, and owned and operated Midway Operating with Jr Slay.
He loved racing, his kids, wife, grandkids and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed flying and entertaining his friends and family. Walt was a member of the Woodward Elks Lodge and America Petroleum Institute. Walt loved watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, NASCAR, OSU Cowboys and anything to do with Trump. He was the #1 crew chief and fan for his son Darren and grandson Rayce. He was loved immensely and will be missed by many.
Walter is survived by his wife Arlene Hacker of the home; one son Darren Hacker of Woodward; three grandchildren: Saydee Beth Carl and husband Taran of Sapulpa, Rilee Elizabeth Murray and husband Blake of Mooreland, Rayce David Hacker of Woodward; two great-grandchildren: Georgia Kaye Murray and one on the way; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Delores Lewellan and Dixie Rodkey, brother Joey Lynn Hacker, son David Hacker, and daughter Lisa Hacker.
