The funeral for Robert H. "Bob" Gilliland, 86, of Woodward, will be 10 AM Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Aaron Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
He was born May 28, 1920, in Tonkawa to Robert Hamilton and Nellie Edith Countryman Gilliland and died Friday, July 14, 2006, in Woodward Regional Hospital.
He grew up in Tonkawa and graduated from Tonkawa high school. He attended Northern Oklahoma Juniorr College.
He married Denella L. Wilkerson July 19, 1939. He later married Goldie "Faye" Sade Welch August 30, 1986, in Enid.
They made their home in Tonkawa. He also lived in Enid and Ponca City while he worked for Bond Bread Company. In 1951, they moved to Woodward where he was part owner and operator of Oasis Steakhouse. He sold his part of the business and went back to the bread business. He retired in 1985 after managing a Rainbow Bread route in northwest Oklahoma for over 30 years. He raised quarter horses and cattle.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Gilliland of Oklahoma City and Tom Gilliland of Woodward; one daughter, Edna Douherty of Sedalia, Colorado; two step – daughters, Connie Loper of Oxford, Nebraska, and Vickie Roberts of Enid; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great – grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
