Carl R. Fuqua, 79 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 in the Woodward Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military rites.
Carl Ray Fuqua was born on August 29, 1937 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Herman Carl and Mabel (Anderson) Fuqua. Carl grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably in the Navy and the Texas National Guard before being honorably discharged in 1961. After his discharge, Carl lived in Amarillo, Texas and Junction City, Kansas. He drove a truck for various companies throughout his life.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Bedsol on November 7, 1992 in Newton, Kansas. They made their home in Kansas before moving to Woodward in 2000.
Carl was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He loved to travel with Pat to visit the grandchildren. He loved camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Fuqua of the home; step-daughter, Sheri Dufresne and husband Terry of Michigan; three grandchildren, Bethany Dufresne, Terry Dufresne, and Craig Dufresne; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by her parents, and his three sisters, Eileen Mae, Maxine Ellen, and Wilma Jean.
