Duane C. Frech, 84 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, March 11, 2023 surrounded by his wife and children. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Duane Charles Frech was born on March 22, 1939 to Charles George and Euvaughna Matha (McConnell) Frech in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Duane grew up on a dairy farm in Carmen, Oklahoma and attended Carmen schools. Duane met his wife Rose Zella Welch while in high school and they were united in marriage on February 22, 1958. To this union they were blessed with two children, Ricky and Kaye. They moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Duane worked at Boeing on B-52's. Hoping for more steady work, he enrolled in the Enid Business College. After graduation, he was hired as an Accountant at Beaver Express in Woodward. As a man of many talents, Duane also drove trucks and did whatever was needed. Eventually Duane was made a partner in the company and worked there until his retirement after 52 years of service in 2014. He was very proud of Beaver Express and of the many employees he helped to become great people over the years.
Duane's passion, which he shared with Rosie, was building and collecting classic cars. He spent thousands of hours at the shop working on his collection. He and Rosie went to hundreds of car shows all over the country and it seemed they made new life long friends wherever they went. Hot rodding for many won't be the same without him. As members of the Woodward Rodders they helped put on the annual Woodward Car Show for years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosie Frech of the home; one son Ricky Frech and wife Lynda of Woodward; one daughter Kaye Boehning and husband Rick of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren: Ian McPhail and wife Rachel, Zachery McPhail, Jeremy McPhail, Angela Boehning Jones and spouse Jason; Ricky Frech, II and wife Amy Pickens, Matthew Frech and wife Mikala, Taylor Frech, Dannelle Swearingim and husband Stoney, Conner Kahoe, Miles Kahoe; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Flores, Ethan Flores, Emma Flores, Annison Jones, Laura Anderson, Burkley Swearingim, Gideon Swearingim, one brother Jerry Frech and wife Kitty of Woodward; special friend, Bill Umber; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
