Luise Evans, 78 year old Woodward resident, passed from this life on Friday, April 6, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the New Horizon United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeff Ralston and Reverend Charlie Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Aloisia Luise (Feichter) Evans was born August 20, 1939 in Klagenfurt, Austria. She was the fourth of eight children born to Justine Dobernig Feichter and Josef Feichter. Five of the eight children lived to adulthood. Luise grew up in Tuderschitz, a small village in southern Austria (very close to the town of Moosburg and about 10 KM from the city of Klagenfurt). Her family lived on a farm, which was very beneficial, since World War II was occurring during her early childhood years. Luise remembers her uncle hiding in their barn, trying not to get caught by the Gestapo. Her aunt had a hiding place for war deserters. She also remembers the government officials counting their chickens and livestock to make sure they weren't selling them on the black market. Their family had people from Klagenfurt who came to stay with them on the farm so they would be safe. She recalled when the airplane bombers would fly over their farm and a bomb was dropped close to their house. Luise went to school in the castle in Moosburg during her first few years of school. She and her siblings walked to school every day (about two miles) in the rolling hills. After she completed eighth grade, Luise began attending high school in Klagenfurt to learn her trade of dressmaker/seamstress. She continued this schooling for three years and then took her certification exam. She then went to Konstanz, Switzerland and worked as a waitress to save money to attend Modefachschule, or the School of Fashion Design, in Frankfurt, Germany. Luise then was offered, and accepted a job in Wertheim, Germany working in the Verner Meier Dress Factory. After working there for a short time, she was promoted to the Director, overseeing more than 400 ewomen and men. This factory made the clothes from start to finish, supplying the Neckermann department store in Frankfurt, Germany.

In January of 1960, when she was twenty years old, she attended a Fasching dance and met Karl Dean Evans, who was stationed in Wertheim, Germany while serving in the U.S. Army during peacetime. Karl Dean was in the 72nd Artillery Group Band. After a brief courtship, Karl Dean proposed to Luise, and she accepted, but she had to wait 15 months until she was granted her visa. Karl Dean was honorably discharged in February of 1961. When Luise finally arrived in NYC, it was a joyous reunion. Karl Dean and Luise were married on May 31, 1962 in the Catholic Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born, Karl Dean, Jr. (Dean) in August of 1963 and Ingrid in September of 1967. They made their first home in Oklahoma City, where they lived for one summer. When Karl Dean was offered a job working for Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company, they moved to Laverne, Oklahoma, where they made their home for 46 years. During this time, they were members of the First United Methodist Church in Laverne. Luise worked for Dr. Leo McAtee, DDS., for 27 years. Luise spent countless hours before and after work sewing for her children and herself, designing several prom dresses and formals for Ingrid and even made a leisure suit for Dean in the 70's and later a seersucker suit. She also sewed the cheerleaders' uniforms and sewed/altered dresses for Miss America, Jane Jayroe, and many others in the Laverne community. In addition, she designed and made the wedding dress for her daughter-in-law, Cindra Aylor Evans. Luise also enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, refinishing furniture, and traveling. In 1979, Karl Dean and Luise began building a house in Austria on the family farm and would work on the house every other summer when they went to visit family. They completed the house in 1994 and spent many extended vacations there. Karl Dean and Luise enjoyed attending all of the activities in which their children participated, and later attending the activities of their grandchildren. Her grandchildren, their friends, and her care givers all referred to her affectionately as Oma. The couple moved to Woodward in 2008 to be closer to their daughter and her family. In Woodward they attended the New Horizon United Methodist Church. Her health began to deteriorate in 2010, and 2012 was the last year that Oma was able to travel to Austria to see her family who still reside there. Oma was classy, feisty, loving, creative, quick-witted, loyal, a true friend and she was very proud of her Austrian heritage. Oma's long journey is now complete and she is in Heaven with our Lord.

We would like to thank all of the sweet care givers from Woodward Hospital, Grace Living Center, Woodward Faith Hospice and those who came to the home to provide love and care for Oma.

Aloisia is survived by her husband of the home Karl Dean Evans; son, Karl Dean Evans, Jr. and wife Cindra of Chandler; daughter, Ingrid Meinders and husband John of Woodward; grandchildren, Carson Evans of Tulsa; Allison; Sarah; and Grace Meinders of Woodward; Hannah and Tyler Ritz of Waxahachie, Texas; Wes and Braden Evans of Chandler; brothers, Reinhard and Irene Feichter; Eberhard Feichter and wife Linde all of Moosburg, Austria; Albert Feichter and wife Alice of Bribie Island, Australia; sister, Ingrid Pagitz and husband Franz of Prosinschach, Austria; brothers-in-law, Hank Evans and wife Mary of Clearlake; Lloyd Evans and wife Deborah of Norman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cornelson and husband Larry of Beaver; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents; mother and father-in-law, Eunice and Karl Evans; one niece, Waltraud Eichholzer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Horizon United Methodist Church (Missions) or the Woodward Education Foundation with the funeral accepting the contributions.
