Maxine Culp, 87 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Woodward. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Mary Maxine (Bassett) Culp was born April 19, 1929 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Bert Austin and Emma Jane (Pulley) Bassett. Maxine grew up in Woodward and attended the Woodward schools through the 8th grade. She attended high school in California and graduated from Tracy High School in Tracy, California.
She was united in marriage to Duane Eldo Culp on September 11, 1949 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and were blessed with three children: Glenn Eldon, Dennis Duane, and Mary Ann.
She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Woodward. Maxine enjoyed reading, spending summers in Colorado, doing crossword puzzles, and visiting with family and friends. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons: Glenn Culp of Woodward, Dennis Culp and wife Brenda of Woodward; one daughter Mary Ann Deckert and husband Troy of Woodward; six grandchildren, Jason Culp, Andrew Culp and wife Angie, Jeremiah Jones and wife Charise, Laura Culp, Joshua Jones and Patrick Jones and wife Jennifer, all of Woodward; seven great-grandchildren, Kaiya Jones, Autumn Jones, Kaylee Jones, Kaitlyn Culp, Bentley Jones, Byron Culp, and Braelyn Jones; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bassett of Tracy, California, Ann Culp of Chattanooga, Tennessee; other relatives and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane Culp, son-in-law, David L. Jones, four sisters: Viola Hunter and husband Joe, Edna Hunter and husband Bob, Thelma Richardson and husband Albert, Doris Eileen, who died at nine months of age and one brother Byron Bassett.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
