Zella Foresman Creech, 93 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson Dean Hughes officiating.
Zella Emma Sharkey Foresman Creech was born on February 18, 1922 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to William Marion and Liza Jane (Peery) Sharkey. Zella grew up on the family farm in northern Woodward County, where she attended the Morning Star School through the 8th grade. The family moved into Woodward and Zella attended Woodward High School, graduating with the class of 1940. She was united in marriage to Nylund George Foresman in 1941 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with three children, Bill, Janet, and Jane. Nyland entered the Navy during World War II and after he was discharged the family moved to Dodge City, Kansas. While living in Dodge City, Zella worked as a Waitress. They moved back to Woodward in 1951 and she has lived here since that time. In Woodward, she worked for Pantorium Cleaners as a seamstress and then Henry Hunters Laundry. Zella became so busy doing alterations that she was able to quit work and work from her home, which enabled her to stay at home with her children.
She was united in marriage to L.C. Creech in 1974 in Woodward. They made Woodward their home.
Zella was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and she was very involved in the church.
She is survived by her husband, L.C. Creech of Paris, Texas; son, Bill Foresman and wife Carolyn of Woodward; one daughter, Janet Allen of Woodward; five grandchildren, Dean Hughes and wife Elaine of Topeka, Kansas, Ray Foresman and wife Melissa of Laverne, Stacy Cluts and husband Damen of Kansas City, Missouri, Kasey Donley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chandra Angelov and husband Ivaylo of Yukon; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 ½ great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Jane on April 20, 2015, two grandsons, Lenny Null, Brett Ladd, one brother Marion Sharky, and three sisters, Wilma, Inez, and Verna.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family
