June 26, 1987 ~ March 3, 2021

Joel William Cox passed from this life on to his heavenly home on March 3, 2021. Joel William Cox was born June 26, 1987 in Kenansville, North Carolina to Eric William Cox and Lisa JoAnne Tyndall. Joel spent the early years of his life growing up in North Carolina with his mom, dad and sister, Cora Gore. When he was ten years old he and his dad moved to Woodward, Oklahoma when Eric was married to Shellee Elizabeth Cox in 1998. When Eric and Joel moved to Woodward Joel gained a new brother and sister, Joshua Woolley and Rachael Baeza. Joel would go back and forth a few times between his home in North Carolina and Oklahoma during his youth but ultimately settled here in Woodward and attended and graduated from Woodward High School in 2006.

After high school Joel completed a year long ministry program in Colorado Springs called Sold Out under the leadership of Dutch Sheets. He earned a ministry certificate from the program and had a desire to follow in his fathers footsteps. Upon returning to Woodward, Oklahoma after the program, Joel enrolled in courses at Northwestern Oklahoma State University with plans to pursue a business degree. Joel had an entrepreneurial spirit and always had new ideas and plans for business ventures that he wanted to pursue. Eventually he would go on to pursue a career in autobody mechanics and worked at a few different autobody shops in town, most recently Brothers Autobody Shop and Pro Auto Body.

On May 11, 2012, Joel welcomed his first child into the world, Cora Nicole Cox. She was his pride and joy and everyone that knew them could see the strength of their bond and the deep love they had for one another. On June 13, 2017, he welcomed his second child, Blaire Kristine Cox. His two daughters were everything to him and he was a proud and devoted father. In 2018, Joel met Shanda Noreuil, his long-term girlfriend and partner in this life. Joel and Shanda blended their families and Joel considered Shandas children, Cyrus, Jaxton and Ava as his own. The family made a life together in Woodward, Oklahoma and enjoyed being together, spending time with extended family members and being active in their childrens lives and activities. Joel was an avid sports fan, specifically NFL football and loved playing fantasy football and watching Minnesota Vikings games with his dad. He enjoyed hanging out in his garage, working on cars and listening to music. He enjoyed keeping up with his friends and family in North Carolina and had frequent phone communication with his lifelong best friend, Ash Sugg of North Carolina. Joel was a kind and generous man that would do anything for a friend or stranger. He was fun loving and goofy and could put a smile on your face instantly. He was a loyal friend, loving son, and most importantly a devoted father to his children. He meant so much to so many and left a lasting impact on those who truly knew him. Joel gave his life to the Lord at a young age and continued to have faith and a personal relationship with his Savior.

His family is at peace knowing that he is with his Father in Heaven with Cora, Shanda, Ava and Cyrus by his side. Joel is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Young of Dumas, Texas; his uncle, Vance Dail of Warsaw, North Carolina; his great grandmother, (affectionately known as Gigi) Opal Leonard Woodrum; his grandparents, Frederick and Shirley Cox of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; his girlfriend and life partner, Shanda Noreuil; her children, Cyrus Watkins and Ava Forsythe; and his daughter Cora Nicole Cox.
