Dale Covalt, 92 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home northwest of Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Woodward Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Roy Dale Covalt was born on November 7, 1932 in Woodward, Oklahoma to James L. and Nora (Benne) Covalt. Dale grew up northwest of Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. He was united in marriage to Ilajoy Collier on May 29, 1960 at the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with twin sons, Wilbur and Wesley. They made their first home on Texas Avenue in Woodward before moving northwest of Woodward. Dale was a farmer and rancher and he also worked as a barber in Buffalo and cut hair at the Western State Hospital in Fort Supply.
Dale was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and their church family. He and Ilajoy loved to travel whenever they could.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Scott Covalt and wife Lennie, Steven Covalt; great-grandchildren: Eric, Joseph, Avery, Savannah, and Irene; other relatives and many friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ilajoy, and his twin sons, Wilbur and Wesley.
