Leo Coulter, 82 year old Woodward resident passed away, Monday, December 23, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Ralston officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with the United States Army providing military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Leo Merle Coulter was born October 23, 1942 to Muriel Francis and Nelta (Hartley) Coulter in Waynoka, Oklahoma. Leo grew up on the family farm north of Waynoka. He attended and graduated from Waynoka High School. Leo was inducted into the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served his country in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1969. He was united in marriage to Rita Welty on May 2, 1969 in Freedom, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Woodward and have resided there since.
Leo worked as a paramedic in Woodward and also for the Water Department for the City of Woodward until his retirement. Leo was a member of the Waynoka Saddle Club. He often enjoyed collecting knives, enjoying the outdoors and traveling. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Leo is survived by his children, Greg Coulter and wife Julie; Charity Coulter; five grandchildren, James Blevins, Tyson Coulter, Lindsey and Ian Tompkins, Joshua Smith and Jessica Smith; two great grandchildren, Alexis Blevins and Lane Blevins; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rita Coulter, parents Muriel and Nelta Coulter, sister Colene (Coulter) Green, brother in law Dennis Green, father and mother in law Dick and Irene Welty, brother in law Steve Welty, and sister in law Jeanette Welty.
