Martha Lynn (Smith) Couch, 68 of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away on July 2, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Martha was surrounded by her children and loved ones, receiving the best of care from family and Faith Hospice. Martha was born February 24, 1948 to J.B. and Martha Ann Smith, in Borger, Texas. She spent her younger years there and later moved to the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. Martha spent many years, of her childhood with her nanny and grand-daddy, who she loved dearly. She often talked about all the memories of her and her little brother Randy, playing in the near by orchards. Martha later moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where she went to Hobbs High School.
Martha then married James (Jimmy) Couch on July 2, 1977 to this union had three daughters; Jamie, Jennifer, and Candi Couch. While the girls were young they traveled the whole United States and loved it. Jimmy and Martha and the girls, lived in many places most of us have yet to see. In later years, Martha found her home in Van Buren, Arkansas where she worked as a property manager for Cabana Estates! Martha loved Arkansas, she thought it was beautiful!!! Martha was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and friend. She loved watching Big Brother and anything that had to do with country music! She enjoyed watching horse races and sitting in the sun. Martha was baptized at the age of 13 in the First Baptist Church. She loved her fur baby, DIXIE ROSE. A sweet dachshund, that loved her just as much.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Couch, father J.B. Smith, sister Delilah Lee, and nephew Troy Smith, grandparents Jasper and Gertie Smith.
She is survived by her mother, Martha Ann Smith of Hobbs, New
Mexico; two sons Scott Jordan and Gary Jordan of Bowie, Texas; three
daughters Jamie Couch of Woodward, Oklahoma, Jennifer and Arnold
Gonzales of Woodward, Oklahoma, Candi Couch of Van Buren, Arkansas; 12
grandchildren with one due in November; 7 great-grandchildren; a
special friend Jeana Freeman, who was like another daughter to her;
brother Randy Smith and wife Sherry of Hobbs, New Mexico; her most
favorite uncle and wife Gerald and Norma Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico;
her beloved dog, DIXIE ROSE, and many other relatives and friends.
