Earl R. Clark

Earl R. Clark, 81 year old resident of Woodward, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Crown Heights Baptist Church with the Reverend Heath Clem and Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Earl Ray Clark was born January 23, 1940 in Buffalo, Oklahoma; he was the son of Glen LaVern and Ruby Opal (Roberts) Clark. He grew up in Buffalo, attended Buffalo Grade School and attended school in Cherokee graduating from Cherokee High School in 1958. Earl attended Southwestern State University earning a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration. On November 19, 1966, he was married to Kathleen Marie (Kathy) Hughes in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Earl and Kathy lived in Fairview one year and have made their home in Woodward since 1971. Earl worked at Republic Supply and then Amoco Oil and Gas for 17 years. He also did custom harvest from Texas to Montana and Canada. Earl was also a contract pumper for various companies. Earl farmed and ranched throughout his life.

Earl was a member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church. He had served on the board of Kids Inc. He enjoyed being with his sons, grandsons and daughter-in-law. He also enjoyed coaching at Kids Inc, quail hunting, going to ballgames and loved University of Oklahoma football. Earl was a hard worker, and drove down to the family farm almost every day when he was able.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Hughes Clark of the home; two sons, Glen Ray of Woodward; Eddy Wayne and wife Dara of Camargo; one sister-in-law Lucinda (Cindy) Clark of Enid; two grandchildren, Scout Wayne Clark; Slade Earl Clark; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ruby Clark, two brothers, Arlie John Clark and wife Eula Mae; Glendale Clark; two sisters, Opal DeFever and husband Herb; Wanda Burr and husband Paul; five nephews, Carl Burr, Richard DeFever, Mark DeFever, Kent Clark and Doug Clark.
