Marietta Mae "Tootsie" Bailey Cather

July 16, 1940 ~ September 5, 2018

Marietta "Tootsie" Cather, 78 year old Woodward resident, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Marietta Mae (Bailey) Cather was born on July 16, 1940 in Woodward, Oklahoma to E.T. and Minnie (Burns) Bailey. Tootsie grew up in the Moscow Flats community in Woodward County, Oklahoma. In 1950, the family moved to Maramec, Oklahoma and moved back to Moscow Flats in 1957. She graduated from Mutual High School in 1957. During her junior and senior year of high school, Tootsie attended the Beaches Beauty College in Enid, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Bud Cather on October 4, 1958 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Ponca City before moving to Woodward soon after. She went to work for the Ponca City Beauty Shop and when the family moved to Woodward she went to work for Olivers Beauty Shop. She continued working as a Beautician until her retirement in February of 2008. Tootsie was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the gardening club, the Knitwits. Tootsie enjoyed gardening, knitting, traveling, and bible study. Most of all she loved being with her family and her chihuahuas. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Bud Cather of the home; one son, Donnie Cather and wife Robyn of Woodward; two daughters: Tamra Nakabayashi and husband Ray of Enid, Tanya Cather of The Village; one brother Tom Bailey and wife Julie of Stillwater; one sister Doris Lucas of Norman; four grandchildren: Garrett Cather and wife Kylee, Hailey Gartrell and husband Jody, Ashley Brown and husband Skyler; and Lauren Mossman and friend Timothy Asher; five great-grandchildren, Harlee Cather, Harper Cather, Stratton Cather, Ethan Brown, and Jase Brown; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.T. and Minnie Bailey and one brother Eddie Dean Bailey. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward First Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
