Woodward, Okla. — Marjorie Arlene (McLain) Cammerer, 87, was born January 7, 1926 to Preston Ray and Hazel Lewis (Starbuck) McLain in Laverne, Harper County, Oklahoma, the oldest of nine children. She passed from this life on October 27, 2013. She graduated from Woodward High School, Woodward, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Alwyn LeRoy Cammerer on August 12, 1946. She is survived by her children; Bonita Zreliak-Craig of Valley Center, Kansas, LeRoy Cammerer of Valley Center, Kansas, Sandra Coleman, of Wichita, Kansas, and Nancy (Paul) Oberg, of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Christopher Gideon, Darren (Khan) Zreliak, Lelani (Derrick) Grier, and Alicia Oberg, one great-granddaughter, Mary Zreliak; sister-in-law Deanna McLain, Woodward, Oklahoma; brothers and sisters Willa (Bruce) Gosset, Yuba City, California, Walter (Mary) McLain, Phoenix, Arizona, H. Fern Qualls, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, E. Ruth (Allen) Fields, Leveland, Texas, G. Keith (Evelyn) McLain, Fairview, Oklahoma, Barbara Cardiff, Woodward, Oklahoma, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Alwyn Cammerer, husband of 61 years; daughters Linda and Alicia; brother P. Leland McLain, and sister Juanita Butler.
Marjorie briefly attended the Wichita Chiropractic College, but left when the duties of motherhood prevailed. She loved her Lord, her family, and children. Importantly, she cared about others. She also enjoyed gardening and reading. She taught Sunday School from the time when she was a teenager, and for over thirty years gave a Sunday School class for her students at the New Horizons facility for individuals with special needs. She helped older individuals all of her life as long as she was able. She resided in Valley Center for over 50 years, and was a long-time member of the Valley Center Christian Church. Words cannot adequately describe the value and quality of the contributions Marjorie’s presence has made to her family and those she met in the time that she was with us. Viewing at 3:30 pm and services at 4:00 pm at General Assembly and Church of the First Born, 60th & Oklahoma, Woodward, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, Oklahoma.
