Death Notice

Woodward, Okla. — 85, died April 13, 2008. He was born in Woodward on April 29, 1922. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center, Kan. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 18 at Valley Center Christian Church. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward.

Obituary

Woodward, Okla. — Alwyn "Doc" LeRoy Cammerer, son of Ralph G. and Edna Opal Carpenter Cammerer, was born in Woodward, Ok on April 29, 1922 and passed from this life on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Lakewood Senior Living in Wichita, Ks. Mr. Cammerer was 85 year old, 11 months and 15 days. Alwyn attended and graduated from Tangier High School with the class of 1942. He always enjoyed attending the Tangier Reunions and came as long as his health permitted. He served in the Army Air Corp and was World War II Veteran. After living a short time in Woodward, Alwyn took advantage of the G. I. Bill to attend college – first at Stillwater and then in Wichita, graduating in 1954 with a degree from Chiropractic School as a Dr. and started a Chiropractic practice in Valley Center, Ks and had a practice for over 20 years. He was a retired Boeing Aircraft machinist.

Alwyn was united in marriage to Marjorie A. McLain on August 12, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Woodward, Ok. The couple was blessed with six children Linda, Alicia, Bonita, Leroy, Sandra and Nancy. The family moved to Valley Center, Ks in 1954 and have continued to live there

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and longtime member of the Valley Center Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Linda and Alicia.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, son LeRoy Cammerer and daughters Bonita Zreliak of Valley Center, Ks, Sandra Coleman and Nancy Oberg and husband Paul of Wichita, Ks. One sister Carol Bruner of Wichita, Ks and two grandson Darren Zreliak and Christopher Gideon and two granddaughter Leilani Craig and Alicia Oberg. In-Laws Walter & Mary McLain of Arizona, Willa & Bruce Gossett, Ron Butler of California, Ruth & Allen Fields of Texas, Kieth & Evelyn McLain, Fern Qualls, Barbara Cardiff and Deanna McLain of Oklahoma.

Funeral service was held on April 18 at the Valley Center Christian Church, Valley Center, Ks and graveside services April 19 at 10:30 in Woodward, Ok burial in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Baker Funeral Home of Valley Center, Ks.
